Abseiling & Bespoke Outdoor Events
Fancy Trying Something a Little Different?
If you've never been abseiling before, the hardest part is often just stepping over the edge.
Once you're on the rope, it's about taking your time, trusting the equipment and enjoying the view from a completely different angle.
We can organise private abseiling sessions and bespoke outdoor events for individuals, families, groups, businesses and special occasions.
Sessions can take place on natural rock, suitable structures or other locations, depending on what you're looking to arrange.
Abseiling Your Way
Rather than putting every group through exactly the same experience, we'll talk to you about what you'd like to do and build the session around that.
You might be looking for:
A first-time abseiling experience
A private adventure with friends or family
A memorable birthday or special occasion
A team-building day for your business
A charity or fundraising abseil
An activity for a club, society or community group
A combination of climbing and abseiling
Something completely different for a group celebration
If you've already got a venue or event in mind, let us know. We can discuss what's possible and help you put the day together.
Where Can We Abseil?
We can arrange abseiling experiences in Yorkshire and the Peak District, with other locations available depending on the event.
The location will depend on the size of your group, the type of experience you're after and what venues are suitable for the activity.
For some events, a natural crag makes the perfect setting. For others, a suitable man-made structure may work better.
We will always choose an appropriate location and make sure the activity is properly planned before your event.
More Than Just an Abseil
If you're organising a group day, we can look at combining abseiling with other outdoor activities.
For example, your day could include:
Abseiling + Rock Climbing
or
Abseiling + Bouldering
or a mixture of activities depending on your group and location.
This can work particularly well for corporate days, celebrations, clubs and private groups.
Team Building & Corporate Events
Looking for something away from the usual meeting room?
An abseiling session gives groups something completely different to work through together. People have to communicate, encourage each other and step outside their normal comfort zone.
We can help arrange an event around your group rather than simply booking you onto a standard public session.
Tell us:
How many people are coming
Where you're travelling from
How long you'd like the event to last
Whether you've got other activities in mind
Any particular requirements your group has
We'll then look at suitable options for your day.
Charity & Fundraising Abseils
Abseiling can also make a memorable charity fundraising event.
If you're planning a sponsored abseil, get in touch with your proposed date, location and expected group size. We can discuss the practical side of organising the activity and what would be required.
Some Peak District abseil locations have specific access and permit requirements, so these need to be checked and arranged in advance. For example, the Peak District National Park confirms that abseiling at Bridge 75 on the Monsal Trail requires a permit.
What If We've Never Abseiled Before?
That's absolutely fine.
You don't need previous abseiling experience for a suitable introductory session. Your instructor will explain the equipment, talk you through the system and help you get comfortable before you head over the edge.
The pace can be adjusted to suit the group.
The aim is to give you an exciting experience without making you feel rushed.
Bespoke Events
There isn't a fixed package for every group.
If you've got an idea for an event that doesn't fit neatly into one of our activities, talk to us about it.
We can discuss the group, location, activities and timings and see what we can put together.

FAQs
-
We provide safety equipment: harness, helmet, ropes, hardware and technical kit. Climbing shoes can be provided if needed. You’re welcome to bring any of your old gear to the session.
Please bring a rucksack, tracksuit or warm top, waterproofs, trainers or walking boots, govers, hat and food and drink for the day. In summer bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and shorts. Weather can change quickly, so pack layers and extra kit to keep you warm and dry.
-
We don’t cancel a session because of bad weather — there’s always something to try, learn, or experience. However, if the forecast is dangerous or unsafe, we will rearrange the session.
-
As climbing is an adventurous activity, we believe it is best experienced without bringing dogs along with you.
Dogs can be unpredictable in busy crags, on narrow paths and near exposed edges. They may startle other climbers, distract handlers who need full concentration, or put themselves at risk on loose rock and steep terrain. Many climbing routes require careful footwork, the ability to move freely and the use of both hands — situations in which managing a dog safely is impractical.
-
Bookings are taken up to 48 hours before your session. Your place is confirmed once payment has been received.
Please note:
Bookings made within 48 hours of the session cannot be guaranteed.
Payment must be completed at the time of booking (reseaving the invoie) to secure your slot.
Cancellations and refunds are subject to our standard terms.

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) Participation Statement states that climbing, hill walking, and mountaineering involve a risk of personal injury or death. Participants must recognize, accept these risks, and be responsible for their own actions and safety. It is a core tenet for managing risks in these activities.

Climb Yorkshire holds business insurance covering our activities and operations. We do not provide personal insurance for injuries or personal belongings. We recommend that all participants arrange their own cover, such as through the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) insurance, for this service.

Where We Climb
Yorkshire, the Peak District, the Lake District and North Wales give us an incredible choice of outdoor climbing.
From Yorkshire gritstone and Peak District edges to limestone crags and the bigger mountain venues further north and into Wales, there's a huge variety of rock, routes and climbing styles to choose from.
We don't use the same venue for every session. The crag we choose will depend on what you want to climb, your experience, the type of session we're running and, of course, the weather.
Some of the venues we regularly visit include:
Almscliff Crag
Brimham Rocks
Stanage Edge
Horseshoe Quarry
Wainstones
Scugdale
Burbage
Strange Edge
Shepherd's Crag
and other crags across the region
Whether you're trying outdoor climbing for the first time, developing your skills or have a particular route in mind, we'll choose a venue where you can get the most out of your day.
If there's a particular crag you'd like to visit, let us know when you enquire. We'll look at your experience, the climbing you're hoping to do and the current conditions before deciding whether it's the right choice.
