Guided Rock Climbing & Classic Routes
Got a Route You've Always Wanted to Climb?
Maybe there's a route you've been looking at for years. Perhaps you've seen it in a guidebook, heard someone talk about it, or spotted a photo of it and thought, I'd love to climb that.
A private guided climbing day gives you the chance to make that happen with an experienced instructor alongside you.
We'll plan the day around your climbing experience, the route you'd like to climb and what you want to get from the day.
That could mean heading out for a well-known classic, tackling a longer route, visiting a new climbing area or simply spending a day exploring some great rock.
Let's Plan the Day Around You
This isn't a fixed course where everyone follows the same programme.
Before you head out, we'll have a chat about:
The climbing you've done so far
The grades and types of routes you're comfortable with
What sort of climbing you'd like to try
A particular route or crag you're interested in
How much time you have
What you'd like to improve or experience
From there, we'll work out a plan for the day.
If you've already got a particular route in mind, send us the details when you enquire. We can look at the route, your experience and the likely conditions and talk through whether it's a suitable objective.
Climbing, Coaching and Guidance
A guided day isn't just about following an instructor up a route.
Depending on what you're looking for, we can help with:
Choosing and planning suitable routes
Reading the rock and working out the best line
Improving climbing movement and technique
Ropework and belaying where appropriate
Getting comfortable on unfamiliar terrain
Dealing with exposure and more committing sections
Moving efficiently on longer climbs
Making sensible decisions as the route develops
If your main goal is to climb a particular route, we'll keep the coaching relevant and let you concentrate on enjoying the climb.
If you'd like to use the day to develop your climbing, we can make more time for coaching and help you understand the decisions behind what we're doing.
Guided Climbing Across the UK
We can arrange guided climbing days in a range of climbing areas, including:
Yorkshire · Peak District · Lake District · North Wales · and other UK climbing areas
The best location will depend on the route you want to climb, your experience, the time available and the weather.
We won't suggest a route simply because it's well known. The rock, conditions, route difficulty and your experience all need to make sense together.
If your original objective isn't suitable on the day, we'll discuss other options with you rather than trying to force a plan that doesn't work.
Who Is a Guided Climbing Day For?
A private guided climbing day could be a good option if you:
Have a particular route you'd like to climb
Want to explore a new climbing area
Are interested in longer or more committing routes
Would like an experienced climber to show you around an unfamiliar crag
Want some coaching while climbing outdoors
Would like to gain experience before becoming more independent
Have a personal climbing goal you'd like to work towards
You don't need to know exactly what you want to climb before you contact us.
If you're unsure whether a particular route is within your current experience, send it over and we'll talk it through with you.

Got a Climb in Mind?
You don't have to arrive with a complete plan.
If there's a route, crag or climbing area you've always wanted to visit, tell us about it.
Send us the route you're considering, a little about your climbing experience and when you'd like to go. We'll look at the options with you and work out the best way to approach the day.
Sometimes it starts with nothing more than, “I'd really like to climb that.”
FAQs
-
We provide safety equipment: harness, helmet, ropes, hardware and technical kit. Climbing shoes can be provided if needed. You’re welcome to bring any of your old gear to the session.
Please bring a rucksack, tracksuit or warm top, waterproofs, trainers or walking boots, govers, hat and food and drink for the day. In summer bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and shorts. Weather can change quickly, so pack layers and extra kit to keep you warm and dry.
-
We don’t cancel a session because of bad weather — there’s always something to try, learn, or experience. However, if the forecast is dangerous or unsafe, we will rearrange the session.
-
As climbing is an adventurous activity, we believe it is best experienced without bringing dogs along with you.
Dogs can be unpredictable in busy crags, on narrow paths and near exposed edges. They may startle other climbers, distract handlers who need full concentration, or put themselves at risk on loose rock and steep terrain. Many climbing routes require careful footwork, the ability to move freely and the use of both hands — situations in which managing a dog safely is impractical.
-
Bookings are taken up to 48 hours before your session. Your place is confirmed once payment has been received.
Please note:
Bookings made within 48 hours of the session cannot be guaranteed.
Payment must be completed at the time of booking (reseaving the invoie) to secure your slot.
Cancellations and refunds are subject to our standard terms.

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) Participation Statement states that climbing, hill walking, and mountaineering involve a risk of personal injury or death. Participants must recognize, accept these risks, and be responsible for their own actions and safety. It is a core tenet for managing risks in these activities.

Where We Climb
Yorkshire, the Peak District, the Lake District and North Wales give us an incredible choice of outdoor climbing.
From Yorkshire gritstone and Peak District edges to limestone crags and the bigger mountain venues further north and into Wales, there's a huge variety of rock, routes and climbing styles to choose from.
We don't use the same venue for every session. The crag we choose will depend on what you want to climb, your experience, the type of session we're running and, of course, the weather.
Some of the venues we regularly visit include:
Almscliff Crag
Brimham Rocks
Stanage Edge
Horseshoe Quarry
Wainstones
Scugdale
Burbage
Strange Edge
Shepherd's Crag
and other crags across the region
Whether you're trying outdoor climbing for the first time, developing your skills or have a particular route in mind, we'll choose a venue where you can get the most out of your day.
If there's a particular crag you'd like to visit, let us know when you enquire. We'll look at your experience, the climbing you're hoping to do and the current conditions before deciding whether it's the right choice.
