Outdoor First Aid Course
Blended Outdoor First Aid Course
Complete Your Outdoor First Aid Training with a Mix of Online & Practical Learning
If you need an Outdoor First Aid qualification for your work or role in the outdoors but prefer to complete some of the theory from home, our blended course combines online learning with practical, face-to-face training.
You'll complete the knowledge-based part of the course online before joining your trainer for a practical training day. The face-to-face session gives you the opportunity to practise the skills, ask questions, work through realistic situations and complete the required practical assessments.
The full course provides 16 hours of learning:
8 hours online
8 hours face-to-face
16 hours total
How the Blended Course Works
1. Complete the Online Training
You'll start by working through the online learning programme at your own pace.
The online element covers the course knowledge and includes demonstrations of the practical skills you'll later practise with your trainer.
You'll work through a series of sections and complete knowledge checks as you progress.
The online course includes a final assessment, which must be successfully completed before attending the practical session.
2. Attend the Practical Training Session
Once you've completed the online element, you'll attend the face-to-face part of the course.
This is where the emphasis moves from learning the theory to putting the skills into practice.
You'll have the opportunity to:
Practise essential first aid skills
Work through realistic outdoor scenarios
Ask questions and clarify anything from the online training
Develop practical confidence
Demonstrate the required skills to your trainer
Complete the practical assessment
Your trainer will be there throughout the session to guide you and provide feedback.

Why Choose Blended Learning?
Blended learning gives you the opportunity to complete the theory away from the classroom before coming along for the practical training.
That means your face-to-face time can concentrate on practice, coaching, scenarios and assessment rather than spending the whole session working through theory.
It can also be useful for organisations that need to train several members of staff and want some flexibility around when the online learning is completed.
Course Structure
Online learning: 8 hours
Face-to-face training: 8 hours
Total learning time: 16 hours
You'll need to complete the online element before attending the practical session.
An online completion certificate must be provided to the trainer before the face-to-face training begins.
Assessment & Certification
The online element includes knowledge checks throughout the programme and a final multiple-choice assessment.
You'll then need to demonstrate the required practical skills during the face-to-face training.
Once both parts have been successfully completed, the training provider issues the full Outdoor First Aid qualification certificate.
The supplied course information states that the qualification certificate is valid for three years.
The blended course is stated to meet the FAIB Quality Assurance Standards for Blended Learning in First Aid.
